Kaytee Krivulka threw the hammer 109 feet, 10½ inches on Friday for the fifth-best mark in school history, highlighting SBCC’s performance in the season-opening Mt. SAC All-Comers Meet in Walnut.
Krivulka is a freshman from Santa Ynez High. There were no official places kept since it was an All-Comers format.
Other top marks for the Vaquero women included Zoe Davis in the shot put (11.24m) and Kate Earle in the 100-meter hurdles (16.61). The women’s 4×100 relay team of Earle, Katie Voss, Kalina Rock and Sara Jungersten ran 50.3 while the 4×400 relay squad of Earle, Rock, Jengersten and Voss recorded a time of 4:17.8.
Cody Bidlow turned in an 11.17 clocking in the men’s 100, Ben Garland ran 4:31.38 in the mile, Matthew Bailey clocked 1:59.27 in the 800 and Chase Lee threw the javelin 47.42 meters.
“Our goal was to come out and shake out the cobwebs and establish some marks,” said coach Scott Fickerson. “We came into the meet tired and will continue to train hard through the next few meets. Despite that, we put up some good marks today and I’m pleased with where we are.
“We were only at about 2/3 strength today. I look forward to getting the full squad out over the next two weeks and really gauging our full strength. This was a good start to the 2012 season.”
