Edwin Elizarraras put the Carpinteria boys soccer team on his shoulders, scoring three goals and assisting on another to lead the Warriors to a 5-1 rout over visiting Fillmore in a Tri-Valley League match on Thursday.
Elizarraras scored just before halftime on a Luca Rigatoni assist to give Carpinteria a 2-1 lead. He then scored the first two goals of the second half, one on a penalty kick and the other directly off a corner kick.
“He scored from every angle,” Carpinteria coach Daniel Torres said. “He had a huge night. He’s one of our captains and this was his last home game of the regular season. The seniors especially want this game more than anyone. Edwin definitely put the team on his shoulders.”
Elizarraras assisted on Lorenzo Garcia’s goal in the sixth minute to put Carpinteria ahead 1-0.
Fillmore tied six minutes later.
Luis Cisneros moved up from defender and scored the Warriors’ final goal in the 78th minute off a Brandon Landeros assist.
Carpinteria improves to 13-6 and 8-1 in the TVL.
“it’s really nice,” Torres said of the team’s recent play. “The guys are doing well, all the credit to them.”
The Warriors play at Oak Park on Friday.
