Two goals from Edwin Elizarraras brought Carpinteria a 2-1 Tri-Valley League victory on Monday, as the Warriors won their 10th straight match with a 2-1 result against Malibu.
Elizarras gave Carpinteria a 1-0 lead in the first half. Luca Riganotti crossed a ball into the middle where Elizarraras got creative with his finish at the top of the six-yard box. Without the time to turn and shoot, Elizarraras found the back of the net with a flip over the goalie with his back facing the net.
“He had great field awareness; he knew where he was at,” explained Carpinteria head coach Daniel Torres.
The Warriors, with one match remaining on their regular-season schedule, have won 10 straight and clinched their second-straight TVL title. They are 15-6 overall.
Elizarraras’ second goal came in the second half after Malibu had drawn even at 1-1. Mohemed Mehai drew a penalty kick that Elizarraras converted.
“We’re doing the right things; we’re getting in there and creating havoc,” Torres said.
Carpinteria’s offense has scored 17 goals in its last four matches as a result.
The Warriors face Santa Paula on Wednesday.
