Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos will meet in a Channel League girls basketball playoff game tonight at 7 o’clock at DP’s Sovine Gym.
The crosstown rivals tied for third place at 3-5 but play in different divisions for the CIF playoffs. DP Athletic Director Dan Feldhaus said he was told by CIF that the playoff game was necessary to determine an automatic qualifier for the playoff brackets. The loser of tonight’s game will go into the playoffs as an at-large team.
This will be the fourth meeting between the rivals. DP has won twice, the first meeting at the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions and in the first Channel League encounter. Both of those games were at Sovine Gym.
