Defending CIF champion Dos Pueblos will open the softball season as the No. 1-ranked team in Division 4.
The CIF released its preseason rankings for softball, baseball and boys volleyball on Monday.
The Chargers return CIF Player of the Year and All-State selection, pitcher Hannah Harris, as well as four other starters from last year’s championship team: Alyssa Lewis, Chloe Madill, Haley Peterson and Agnetta Cleland.
Harris, a senior, posted a 22-9 record with a 13 shutouts, a 1.03 ERA, and 233 strikeouts in 210 innings.
Carpinteria, which returns seven starters, including pitcher Catalina Maldonado, is ranked fifth in the Division 6 preseason poll.
In baseball, Bishop Diego was the only local school to receive a preseason ranking. The Cardinals, who return several key players, are eighth in Division 6.
Lompoc is ranked No. 2 in Division 5 and Dunn is second in Division 7.
For the first time in memory, there are no local boys volleyball teams ranked in the preseason top 10 in any division. Santa Ynez is among others in Division 3.
