The Carpinteria boys soccer team went down 2-1 in the second overtime of its game at Santa Paula on Wednesday, but responded with an equalizer just two minutes later and the match finished in a 2-2 tie.
The game was scoreless for the first 70 minutes of regulation before Luca Rigonati put the Warriors ahead.
The lead did not lost long and Santa Paula scored just four minutes later. At the end of 80 minutes the score was even at 1-1, and the game went into overtime.
The first period of extra time was a stalemate, but Santa Paula struck just three minutes after the teams switched sides and started the final segment of play.
Muhammad Mehai proved that leads could not last long in this match, and evened the game at 2-2 just two minutes after the Warriors went down.
Carpinteria finished the regular season at 10-1-1 against Tri-Valley League competition, good enough for first place. The team will receive its playoff draw on Monday.
