The Bishop Diego girls soccer put in an own goal during Thursday’s game at Villanova, but rectified its mistake and came back to win 2-1.
The blunder came in the 12th minute, but just seven minutes later Gabby Koepenick continued her stellar season and tied the game at 1-1.
The Cardinals attacked furiously, but could not find the net for the rest of the half.
“We had it inside their 18 so much,” head coach Brent Gonsalves said. “We had tons and tons of shots but couldn’t put it in today.”
Bishop Diego took advantage in of the vulnerable Villanova just one minute into the second half when Annalise Morando put her team ahead 2-1.
The Cardinals would continue to attack but were unable to find the back of the net again.
Bishop Diego (11-6-2 overall, 4-4 Frontier League) will continue its season on Tuesday at home against Santa Clara.
