A 17-2 hole was too deep for Bishop Diego to climb out of on Saturday as the Cardinals were dealt a 53-33 loss to visiting St. Margaret’s in the second round of the Divisino 5-AA CIF playoff.
Bishop Diego were led on the offensive end by the trio of Greer Shull, Josie McCoy and Madison Ballard. Shull recorded a team-high 12 points and McCoy added 11.
“It was just tough coming back,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich. “We had probably one of our poorest shooting nights of the season.”
The Cardinals, who finish with a 10-17 overall record, return just about everyone for next year’s team.
“I wanted to thank our senior Julia Jenkins who played her last game for us tonight and special thanks to the crowd we had tonight,” Burich said.
