The Bishop Diego girls basketball team was unable to keep pace with Oak Park on Thursday and lost its final game of the season 63-35.
Greer Shull led the team with 12 points and Josie McCoy added 10 more. Charlie Fling was a force inside with nine rebounds.
The team honored its lone senior Julia Jenkins before the game, and she grabbed five boards and blocked one shot.
The Cardinals kept the game close throughout the first two quarters and only trailed by seven at the half. The last time the two teams met, Oak Park was up by 30 points at the midway point.
“We had great energy and great effort in first half,” head coach Jeff Burich said.
Bishop Diego finished the season with a 9-17 overall record and a 2-10 record in the Tri-Valley League. Due to the stiff competition in league, the Cardinals are ranked 12th in CIF Division 5A and are eligible for an at-large bid into the postseason. Brackets will be released Sunday afternoon.
