Freshman Jeffrey Acheampong took on the role of playmaker and handled it quite well in Cate’s 7-0 Condor League boys soccer win over Ojai Valley School.
Acheampong had four assists and scored a goal as the Rams improved to 9-1-1.
Ema Boateng, who signed a national letter of intent with UCSB, scored the first goal off a Acheampong pass in the third minute.
Three minutes later sophomore Tyler Douglas fed Acheampong who put it away. In the 10th minute, junior Justin Kim found senior captain Avery Schwartz for the third goal.
With less than a minute to go in the half, Acheampong pushed the ball to freshman Patrick Thomas who tallied his first goal of his Cate career.
The second half opened with a goal by Douglas assisted by Schwartz in the first minute.
In the next ten minutes, Acheampong twice set up junior Abhay Singh for goals.
Blake Wands recorded his 8th shutout of the season.
