UCSB senior guard Emilie Johnson has been named one of just 10 finalists nationwide for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Loomis, Calif. native is the first UCSB women’s basketball player to be named one of the 10 finalists, just one of many honors for the decorated player. Earlier this season Johnson was named to Team USA and was the starting point guard in the Pan-American Games. To view Johnson’s Senior CLASS page, please visit this link.
Johnson is also in UCSB’s Top-10 in numerous categories include three-pointers and free throw percentage, ranks in the top-20 in all-time scoring and is about to break into the top-10 in career assists.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 60 candidates announced in November. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on either theLowe’s Senior CLASS Award website or the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page through March 18.
Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men’s and women’s basketball head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.
