Thacher topped Cate’s boys basketball team in a 64-57 decision on the Toads’ home court on Wednesday.
Despite a game-high 24 points from Austin Gallegos, the Rams dropped their first league game after being outscored 17-9 in the fourth quarter.
Rams head coach Bryan Rodriguez blamed too many turnovers and Thacher’s good shooting for Cate’s downfall.
“Just way too many turnovers and they got a lot of easy buckets off of them,” Rodriguez said.
Thacher also converted nine 3-point attempts.
Cate has another league game on Saturday against Midland.
