The Chargers take time for a team photo on Saturday after two days at the Nogales Super Championships.
Five Chargers placed at the Nogales Super Championships on Saturday for the Dos Pueblos wrestling team.
Nico Sorenson produced DP’s best result with a second-place finish in the 120-pound division and Rudy Cortes’ fifth-place in the 220-pound class was his first tournament placement.
“Overall I think it was a good day,” said Chargers head coach Anthony Califano. “It was good for those guys who finish with a win.”
Cortes won his final match with a lateral drop and a pin in the third period.
Nico Martinez, Malcolm Cellard-Farrall, and Yaskin Solano also won their final matches for seventh-place finishes in their respective weight classes.
The Chargers return to Channel League competition on Tuesday with a home meet with San Marcos. The dual meet is Senior Night for the Chargers.
