Dos Pueblos gave one of the top teams in the CIF a tough battle on the road and then knocked off a crosstown rival last week. The performances were enough to keep the Chargers as the top-ranked team in the county.
Righetti and Pioneer Valley flip-flopped positions this week after both splitting games. The Warriors moved ahead of the Panthers by virtue of their win in their crosstown game.
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY’S SUPER SEVEN (1/18/2012)
1) Dos Pueblos Chargers (16-6) — The Chargers took CIF 2-AA third-ranked Ventura down to the wire, losing by just three points. They then knocked off crosstown rival Santa Barbara behind Chiara Dimarco’s 27 points.
2) Santa Barbara Dons (12-7) — It was a tough week for the Dons, losing to Dos Pueblos for the second time this season and falling to Valencia at the Buena Extravaganza.
3) Righetti Warriors (8-7) — After a big win over Pioneer Valley, the Warriors dropped a close game against Atascadero.
4) Pioneer Valley Panthers (8-7) — The Panthers dropped back-to-back games against city rivals St. Joseph and Righetti
5) Providence Hall Lions (6-5) — The Lions have defeated Bishop Diego, San Marcos and Valley Christian Academy this season.
6) Village Christian Academy Lions (5-1) — Una Herzog outscored Orcutt Academy n the first half of a 63-45 win last week.
7) Orcutt Academy (9-2) Second-year program is having a good season.
