Cate’s boys basketball team needed to come from behind for a victory on Saturday, shaking off a halftime deficit to record a 53-42 Condor League victory over Besant Hill at Thacher.
Austin Gallegos led the Rams in scoring with 16 and added two rebounds, a steal, and an assist to his stat line. On the inside, Max Wankner tallied 15 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block.
Kyle Mayfield helped the Rams turn the tide in the third quarter by scoring eight of his 11 points in the pivital period. Mayfield also recorded six rebounds and four steals in the game.
“The Rams were in sync and played their best basketball to date,” said Cate head coach Bryan Rodriguez.
Cate is 4-1 in league play, good for second place. The Rams host Laguna Blanca on Wednesday.
