Malibu’s Justin Holmes collected 22 points in Friday’s Frontier League game with Carpinteria, pacing the Sharks in a 67-33 decision over the Warriors.
Malibu completes the first round of league play with a 5-0 record while the Warriors are 1-4.
“They just jumped all over us to begin with,” said Warriors head coach Johnny Ward.
Malibu led 20-2 in the first quarter and never looked back. The Warriors did cut the lead to 15 at halftime but the Sharks came out hot in the second half and extended their lead.
“The kids are giving 100 percent; we’re just coming up short,” Ward said. “As a coach, that’s all you ask for.”
Kyle Millhollin led the Warriors, who play Villanova next on Wednesday, with 10 points.
