Junior winger Gabby Koepenick scored four goals and helped the Bishop Diego girls soccer team earn a 7-2 victory at home over Orcutt Academy.
Elisa Bernardi scored two goals, and Natalie Durtche was the Cardinals’ other goal scorer.
Despite the lopsided score, head coach Brent Gonsalves still has concerns about his team’s play as they prepare for league matches, which start next week.
“Today I was not focused on scoring goals, but on playing well,” Gonsalves said. “We struggled at times in the game.”
The convincing victory was the Cardinals’ first match since December 19, and the team did not show the same sharpness it had before the break.
“Once league starts, the preseason doesn’t mean anything so we just need to get back to the way we were playing,” Gonsalves said.
Bishop Diego (7-2-1) continues its season at Channel Islands on Friday.
