Despite spending the majority of the game in front of its opponent’s goal, the Bishop Diego girls soccer team was able to find the back of the net just once and lost 2-1 at home to Fillmore in a Frontier League match.
“We’re just going to have to shake off this week,” head coach Brent Gonsalves said about the 0-2 start in league. “It’s a bad patch in a very productive season.”
Fillmore took a 2-0 lead, scoring in the 31st and 50th minutes.
In the 53rd minute, Gabby Koepenick continued her goal-scoring tear on the season and cut the Fillmore lead in half.
The Cardinals continued to hammer at the Fillmore goal and rung two shots off the post, but they were unable to get an equalizer.
Bishop Diego (0-2 Frontier League, 7-4-2 overall) will continue its season at home on Tuesday against Villanova.
