Mansai Conner and Cruz Mertens made it double-double night for Dos Pueblos on Wednesday, improving the Chargers to 2-2 with double-doubles in a 56-39 win over Buena.
Conner totaled 14 points and 10 rebounds; Mertens collected 11 points and 10 rebounds as the Chargers won their second Channel League game in a row.
Now, after the first round of league play, there is a logjam in the middle of the standings. San Marcos, Santa Barbara, and DP are all 2-2 with Ventura at 4-0 and Buena 0-4.
The Chargers travel to San Marcos on Friday for the second of three meetings this season.
Against Buena, Dos Pueblos led for most of the game. The Chargers took the lead for good in the second quarter and held a 25-19 advantage at halftime.
