The Santa Barbara High girls soccer team started its Channel League campaign on the road against a tough Buena team and lost 8-0.
The Dons were burned seven times by the same Buena player, and were unable to find any rhythm on offense.
“If you don’t come to play, you pay,” head coach Jeff Johnson said.
Santa Barbara was also hampered by the absence of three players who had yet to return from vacation.
Now 0-1 in league play, the Dons will play next against San Marcos at home on Tuesday.
