Playing under the lights in a later-than-normal game at Peabody Stadium, neither Santa Barbara nor San Marcos’ girls soccer teams could gain an edge on Tuesday in a 0-0 stalemate.
“Really, it was a back-and-forth game,” said Royals coach Macie Berlin.
Both teams had their chances to score in their common attempt at their first Channel League victory.
“The attitude after the game was a little dismal. They wanted that win,” Berlin said of her players.
San Marcos will be hard-pressed to get a victory in its next two games, which come against Dos Pueblos and Buena.
The Dons face Dos Pueblos on Thursday in another home game, followed by a match with Ventura next Tuesday.
