Santa Barbara jumped on San Marcos for six goals in the first period and cruised to a 13-6 win in a Channel League girls water polo match on Tuesday at the Royals’ pool.
“They jumped on us quick and we were out of the game quick,” San Marcos coach Brian Roth said.
Hannah Koper scored three goals, Hannah Turk added two and Ashley Wagner chipped in one for the Royals, who are 1-4 in league, with all four losses coming against CIF top-10 ranked Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos.
Roth lauded the play Turk.
“I’m really impressed at how much she’s grown and how much confidence she’s gained. She’s carried us a lot this year. I’m really proud of her.”
Charlotte Hendrix scored six goals on six shots for Santa Barbara, and Rocio Fesembeck added three goals and Claire Bergthold tallied 2.
San Marcos is 5-10 on the season.
