Ventura scored in the final minute to steal a win from Santa Barbara in a Channel League girls soccer match on Tuesday at Peabody Stadium.
With the game scoreless, Ventura’s forward beat Santa Barbara’s goalkeeper to a ball rolling toward the corner flag and shot into the open net for the game winner.
“They had one chance and they converted it,” said Santa Barbara coach Jeff Johnson. “I know our girls feel gutted.”
Johnson said his team missed on several scoring chances.
“It’s not always does that deserving team wins,” he said.
Santa Barbara falls to 0-3-1 in league play.
