The Santa Barbara High boys basketball traveled to Buena and held the host team to just 26 points en route to a 48-26 Channel League victory.
Brendan Fay hit three three-pointers and finished the game with 11 points while Teon West added 10 more.
In the first half, the Dons clogged the lane with a zone defense and forced Buena to shoot from the outside. The Bulldogs struggled to find an offensive rhythm.
In the second half, Santa Barbara was forced to rely on its defense as the team went cold from the field and put up just three points in the third quarter.
The defense kept Buena guessing by switching to a press and never allowing the home team to get comfortable.
The excellent defensive effort required every player on the Dons’ roster to get into the game, making the game a true team victory.
Santa Barbara (3-2 Channel League, 8-8 overall) will host Dos Pueblos on Friday. The two teams played earlier in the season with the Chargers ending up on top.
