Scott Terry scored twice to rally the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team to a 2-2 draw with visiting Buena in a Channel League match on Tuesday.
“It was a thrilling tie. Two 0-3 teams played really good soccer,” said DP coach Matt York.
After a scoreless first half in which DP controlled most of the possession, Buena put two shots away in the 45th and 53rd minutes.
“Down 0-2, our guys could have gone either way,” York said. “I changed a few things around and our energy came back.”
He pushed Terry up to forward and got the two goals.
“He was the spark we needed,” said York.
The solid play of Freddy Barragan also played a big role in the comeback.
“He really stepped up his game and took control of the middle of the field, which is the reason we got off so many shots,” said York.
The Chargers had 14 shots on goal, 10 of them coming in the second half.
York said the exciting game ended on a somber note as a Buena player, who midway through the second half collided with a teammate and suffered a head injury, collapsed on the field and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
Dos Pueblos (6-13-1, 0-3-1) plays host to San Marcos next Tuesday.
