The Carpinteria High girls basketball team put together an excellent all-around performance as eight of the nine players on the roster scored in a 39-19 home win over Malibu.
“It was a good team win,” head coach Dan Mercer said.
Erin Saito led the team with 11 points and Bethany Lugo added nine more. Elena Scheider filled up the stat sheet by dishing seven assists and pulling down eight rebounds to go with her three points.
Kristina Burch gave the Warriors a presence inside with six points and seven boards.
Amy Davis came off the bench to bolster Carpinteria’s post defense. The 6-2 center is a volleyball player and is playing in her first season of organized basketball. Davis pulled down four rebounds and altered several shots.
The Warriors (1-1 Frontier League, 7-9 overall) play Saturday in a non-league match at Nordhoff.
