It was one of those days for the Carpinteria girls soccer team.
The goal shrunk to the size of a mouse hole, as the Warriors struggled to put the ball in the back of the net and played Santa Clara to a 0-0 draw in a Frontier League match.
“We hit the cross bar, missed a penalty kick and missed a lot of shots in front of the goal. It was sad,” said a frustrated Carpinteria coach Lucy Carleton.
The Warriors dominated the match and didn’t allow Santa Clara to move the ball over the center line in the second half.
Carpinteria (7-3-2, 2-0-1) got solid play from the back four of Kelsey Drain, Erin Durflinger, Shirley Benitez and Alexa Benitez.
