The Carpinteria girls soccer team posted a resounding 6-0 scoreline as they routed Orcutt Academy at home.
Kylie Augerot started the scoring by heading a ball in off a corner kick from Catherine Torres in the sixth minute, then receiving a pass from freshman Monica Garcia in the twelfth minute to make the score 2-0.
Torres continued to find her teammates in scoring positions and assisted on a goal by Jiselle Estrada. Just before halftime the Warriors pushed the score to 4-0 when Garcia found fellow freshman Lesly Zapata.
“There was a lot of freshman action going on today,” head coach Lucy Carlton said.
Torres’ corner kicks were equally as deadly in the second half, and she picked out Cristina Valdez for Cartpinteria’s fifth goal of the game.
Sweeper Kelsy Drain received a rare opportunity to push forward with the game in hand, and made the most of it by scoring on a cross.
The Warriors (4-2-2) will continue their season at home against Nordhoff on Monday.
