Cate’s junior center Max Wankner had little trouble finding his spots on the floor and tallied 34 points to lead the Rams to a 68-61 victory at Faith Baptist.
“We did a really nice job of breaking the press,” head coach Bryan Rodriguez said. “It gave us some easy buckets.”
St. Baptist played a half-court pressure defense in an attempt to slow down the Rams’ offense. Once the ball was past half-court, Cate was able to find Wankner cutting to the basket with frequent success.
Wankner also dominated the glass, pulling down 13 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive end.
Cate (2-3) will break for the holidays and continue its season on January 7 at Laguna Blanca.
