It’s tight at the top of the Western State Conference Supremacy standings after the fall season and SBCC is in the thick of it.
The Vaqueros are second with 36 points, two behind the leader, Cuesta. Five schools are between 32 and 38 points in the 2011-12 competition that features 15 schools.
Cuesta was fourth last year. Ventura, the defending champ, is in fifth place with 32 points. SBCC was the runner-up in last year’s Supremacy race.
The Vaqueros captured WSC titles in men’s and women’s soccer and took second in women’s volleyball.
Points are awarded in 10 sports for men and women. Santa Barbara doesn’t have teams in wrestling and men’s and women’s water polo.
