San Marcos dropped a 51-27 girls basketball game at Santa Paula on Tuesday but Royals head coach Devin Uyesaka was left feeling positive about what he saw on the heels of a tough week at the Gold Coast Tournament.
“I’m very pleased with the way my team played tonight,” Uyesaka said. “It was definitely a step in the right direction for us.”
In particular, the Royals handled the press-break with better results.
“We were moving the ball great and working really well as a team,” Uyesaka said.
Liz Gil benefitted from San Marcos’ ability to advance the ball into the half-court offense. Gil totaled team-highs of 12 points and eight rebounds.
“I have to give it up to our guard play to get it inside,” added Uyesaka.
San Marcos plays again at next week’s Tournament of Champions.
