The Providence Hall girls basketball team started the Bishop Diego Tournament well with a convincing 63-32 win over Cate in its opening game of the tournament.
Sydney Hedges led the Lions with 15 points while Faith Emerson added 10 more. Olivia Johnson controlled the glass and pulled down nine rebounds to go along with her seven points.
“We had great defense and intensity,” assistant coach Angie Tseng said.
Providence Hall (2-0) will continue tournament play tomorrow evening against Oak Park.
