Thacher edged Providence Hall’s boys basketball team on Friday 60-59, as the Lions found themselves in another game decided by a tight margin.
Erik Sheets made his sixth 3-pointer of the game with eight seconds left to bring the Lions to within one at 60-59. Providence Hall almost forced a turnover on the inbounds play but Thacher had the possession arrow in its favor and the Toads retained the ball after the Lions almost got a steal.
It was the fifth game of season for Providence Hall (2-3), which has been a part of three overtime games already and hasn’t had a game decided by more than four points yet.
“We’re getting battle tested, that’s for sure,” said Lions head coach Keith Luberto.
Sheets finished with 20 points to go with eight rebounds. Nate Dutcher collected 19 points and Matthew Eaton 12. The trio accounted for 51 of the Lions’ 59 points.
“Those three guys did outstanding,” Luberto said.
Providence Hall travels on Saturday for a game against Coastal Christian.
