PHOTO GALLERY INTRO: San Marcos and Hueneme wouldn’t let the other get the last laugh on Friday, coming together for an exciting game that ended in a 4-4 stalemate at Warkentin Stadium.
San Marcos took a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game but settled on a 2-1 lead at halftime after giving up a goal on a penalty kick.
Hueneme tied the game immediately into the second half and while the Royals regained the lead at 3-2, the Vikings were soon in the lead with a 4-3 advantage.
Cody Martinez’s second goal of the game tied it at 4-4 in the 68th minute. After a combined five goals in the first 28 minutes of the second half, the two teams quieted down and were silent the rest of the way.
The Royals are now 4-2-3 on the season and play their next game against Cate on Wednesday.
