Oxnard snaps Santa Barbara’s modest unbeaten streak

After starting the season on a three-game unbeaten streak, Santa Barbara High’s girls soccer team experienced its first loss of the season Thursday in a 3-0 defeat to Oxnard.

The Yellowjackets took a 2-0 lead at halftime in Peabody Stadium and added a third goal in the 50th minute.

“Three times they got behind our defense on little breakaways,” said Dons assistant coach Ryan Throop.

Megan Flynn hit the post once, and Carly Graf produced some opportunities on headers, but nothing found its way into the net for Santa Barbara (2-1-1).

“We could be a little more organized,” Throop explained.

The Dons return to their home pitch on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. start against Moorpark.
