The Dos Pueblos girls soccer team’s game at Rio Mesa was scoreless for over an hour before two goals were scored in a short span of time and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Dos Pueblos struggled to find a rhythym and was unable to generate offense for the majority of the game.
“We haven’t really learned to play as a team yet,” junior captain Jamie Benedetto said. “We need to work on a lot.”
The Chargers played well defensivesly, and were helped by freshman Samantha Sanders who contributed valuable minutes and kept constant pressure on Rio Mesa’s midfielders.
Despite Sanders’ efforts, Rio Mesa found the back of the net late in the game.
But Dos Pueblos responded immediately, and Megan Gee evened the score on the first play after the game resumed.
The Chargers (3-2-3) continue their season on Friday at the Buena Tournament against Notre Dame.
