Ivette Gil was named Tournament MVP as Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team defeated the host 58-38 at the Righetti Tournament on Thursday.
Gil tallied 16 points in the championship game, in which the Dons benefited from the Warriors not having their best player suit up.
Desirea Coleman and Melissa Lemus added eight points each for the Dons, who wrapped up their preseason with a 12-4 record.
The Dons begin league play next Thursday against Buena.
“Once league starts, you throw everything out because everyone scouts each other so much,” said Santa Barbara head coach Andrew Butcher. “So it’s a different animal.”
