Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team ran its record to 6-0 on Friday by defeating Channel Islands 65-45 at Rio Mesa High School in a Gold Coast Tournament game.
The Dons will be playing in the third-place game on Saturday against West Ranch, which was the matchup in the title game a year ago.
Desiree Coleman scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Dons, who also got a team-high 23 points from Ivette Gil.
Santa Barbara did a good job at the free-throw line by making 20-of-27 attempts, but if there was one thing that head coach Andrew Butcher thought could be improved it would have been the season-high 11 turnovers as a team.
Saturday’s third-place game begins at 4 p.m. at San Marcos High School.
