UCSB’s men’s basketball team fell four spots in this week’s Mid-Major Top-25, which is released every Monday.
The Gauchos split a pair of road games last week, defeating University of San Diego 65-61 before falling at Washington 87-80. After starting the season 4-0, the Gauchos had lost 3-of-4 games when this week’s poll was released.
Monday’s 70-50 loss at California is not reflected in the rankings.
UCSB has been as high as No. 12 in the Mid-Major poll, achieving that level in the November 22 poll after a 3-0 start.
Long Beach State – UCSB’s top competition for this year’s Big West Conference crown – holds the distinction of being the only team in the Mid-Major rankings with a losing record.
The 49ers check in at No. 23.
Creighton holds the No. 1 ranking with an 8-1 record, followed closely by undefeated Murray State (12-0). Harvard (9-1), Cleveland State (10-1) and Iona (9-2) fill out the top five.
