Dos Pueblos opened the wrestling season on an impressive note, winning eight of nine matches at the Downey Duals on Saturday.
The Chargers finished in a three-way tie for first place, but were awarded second, based on criteria, said coach Anthony Califano.
Dos Pueblos defeated Mater Dei, La Serna, Alhambra, Bell Gardens, Pacifica, Loara, Downey and Royal. Its lone loss was a 33-31 decision against Norte Vista.
Esteban Flores (113 pounds), Nico Sorenson (120), Chad Lampe (126), Yaskin Solano (182) and Andy Garcia (195) all went 9-0 on the day to win their weight classes.
Armando Villegas (106), Carson Holoien (147) and Danny Ahmadian (195) were runners-up with 8-1 marks.
Third-place finishers were Malcolm Cellard-Farrall (152) and Rudy Cortes (220), while Andrew Wakamiya and Lincoln Liechti (138), Nicco Martinez and Calvin Blais (160) and Daniel Giordani and Cris Sanchez (170) took fourth.
