The Dos Pueblos boys soccer team was unable to overcome several injuries to key players and lost 2-0 at Hueneme on Friday.
The Chargers had just 13 players available for the game.
“We’ll be looking forward to a week off for sure,” head coach Matt York said.
Hueneme struck first in the 34th minute. Dos Pueblos was able to play tough and stay in the game, but a second goal 73rd minute sealed the result.
Despite being undermanned, the Chargers were still able to generate chances as Scott Terry was able to use his long throw-in to get the ball into dangerous positions.
Injured players have started to trickle back into the lineup for Dos Pueblos, as Kelvin Mendoza, a senior right-back, play his first game is several weeks and had an immediate impact.
“He was just giving his heart other there, doing a litt bit of everything for us,” York said.
The Chargers (4-8) should be getting four players back from injury when they continue their season on December 28 at the Buena Tournament.
