Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team posted its fourth win without a loss on Wednesday in a 60-31 victory over Santa Ynez on the first day of the Gold Coast Tournament.
The Dons’ average margin of victory in their first four games is over 29 points, but Santa Barbara will see its toughest challenge yet on Thursday as they advance to face St. Joseph.
St. Joseph routed the Royals on Wednesday, led by Kaitlyn Flowers’ 32 points.
Santa Barbara’s top scorer against Santa Ynez was Melissa Lemus with 22 points. Lemus added five steals on defense, where Ivette Gil collected nine steals to go with her 19 points. Desiree Coleman grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and was especially active on the offensive glass.
Thursday’s game is at 4 p.m. at San Marcos.
