Santa Barbara High’s boys basketball team split two games on the final day of the Arroyo Grande Tournament, falling to Marina in an early game before rebounding with a 66-49 win over Atascadero.
The Dons (3-3) beat Atascadero for third place, having won their first two games of the tournament before a 49-48 loss to Marina in the semifinals.
Andy Busch posted a team-high 17 points against Atascadero and was the Dons’ all-tournament selection. Emilio Gonzalez had 16 and Matt Wagonhurst 14.
“Credit Seniors Teon West and Angel Lopez with a great defensive performance to beat a really good Atascadero team,” said Dons assistant coach Andrew Gil.
The 3-3 Dons can keep it going with three games next week. This same Atascadero team visits Santa Barbara on Monday, then the Dons have Channel Islands on Thursday, the day before the Channel League opener with Buena.
