The Santa Barbara High girls basketball team won both of its games at the Righetti Tournament to go undefeated in pool play and advance to the final.
In the Dons’ first game against Santa Maria, Meliss Lemus led the team with 16 points and Ivette Gil added 13 more en route to a 52-30 win.
Lemus filled up the stat sheet as she also recorded five assists, five rebounds, and six steals.
Santa Barbara was up 46-17 heading into the fourth quarter and was able to rest its starters before a tough afternoon match against Atascadero.
In the afternoon game, Gil led the team with 18 points and Sylvia Hoover was right behind her with 16. Every one of those baskets was need as the Dons won 59-57.
“Sylvia played her best game of the season,” head coach Andrew Butcher said. “She just had a terrific game and she ran the court offensively.”
Hoover also had seven rebounds in the game.
Santa Barbara (11-4) will play Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the tournament final.
