Santa Barbara High wrapped up another solid year at the South Torrance Tournament on Thursday with a 4-0 victory over North Torrance in the third-place game.
The two-time defending champions were denied a chance to play for a third straight title on Wednesday by Leuzinger, but came back on Thursday to pile on four goals.
“Sometimes it’s hard to get up for that third place game after losing in the semifinals but the boys did a good job,” said Dons head coach Todd Heil.

Leuzinger went on to take the title from Santa Barbara by defeating Narbonne 2-1 on Thursday.
The Dons featured four different goal scorers against North Torrance while their defense recorded its third shutout in five tournament games.
Alex Navarro gave Santa Barbara a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute by bending in a corner kick. Matt Medina and Zack Torres quickly added goals to build the Dons’ advantage to 3-0 in the first 20 minutes of play. George Guerrero scored his second goal of the tournament in the 61st minute to complete the scoring.
“We’re a young team so 4-1 for me is nice. It’s something for us to build on,” Heil said.
The Dons’ next game is next week at the Buena Tournament. Santa Barbara has games against Camarillo and Thousand Oaks on Thursday.
