SBCC grabbed a 27-20 halftime lead on Friday and went on to stun Riverside 55-51 in the consolation quarterfinals of the Sequoias Women’s Basketball Invitational in Visalia.
Katie Grande had 11 points and Sara Crane, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Vaqueros (4-3). Riverside is ranked No. 12 in Southern California.
Mercedes Gonzalez racked up eight points and eight boards while Jennifer Jimenez had six points, eight assists and five steals. The Vaqueros won despite making only 41 percent (11-27) from the free-throw line.
