Desirea Coleman was an imposing presence for the Santa Barbara girls basketball team in its 64-50 win over Pioneer Valley at the Righetti Tournament. Coleman finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
“She was making a lot of things happen,” head coach Andrew Butcher said.
Ivette Gil lead the team in points with 20, and Melissa Lemus added 14 more.
Despite the Dons’ impressive statistics, Pioneer Valley kept the game close into the second half.
Santa Barbara trailed by one point at halftime, but went on a run in the middle of the third quarter and never looked back. The Dons led by as many as 22 points en route to a 14 point victory.
Santa Barbara (9-4) will continue tournament play tomorrow with games against Santa Maria and Atascadero.
