Chargers collect four goals, then get shut out

After blowing up with four goals, Dos Pueblos’ boys soccer team was shut out in its second game of the day on Thursday to start the Buena Tournament.

The Chargers beat Cabrillo 4-1 to begin the tournament but couldn’t break through in a 2-0 loss to Pacifica.

Omar Montalvo, Lalo Arce, Brian Bieza, and Michael Sazani recorded goals for the Chargers in the win over Cabrillo, with Scott Terry and Julio Rubio providing assists.

Chargers head coach Matt York singled out Forbes Bainou for his quality play on Thursday.

“He was an absolute ball hawk for us,” York said.

It was DP’s second loss of the season to Pacifica. The Chargers gave up a goal in the second minute to put themselves in a hole.

“That put us behind the 8-ball the whole game,” York said.

Dos Pueblos continues tournament play on Friday with a 9 a.m. game against Oxnard.
