The Bishop Diego girls basketball team defeated Avalon 38-29 at the Avalon Tournament on Catalina Island.
Josie McCoy led the Cardinals with 14 points, and Greer Shull added nine more.
On the defensive end, Charlie Fling turned in an dominant performance with seven steals and six blocks.
Bishop Diego started slow but was able to settle into the game and put together successful possessions.
“Eventually in the second half we started to get our legs and were able to attack the basket and get open looks,” head coach Jeff Burich said.
The Cardinals will continue tournament play tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. against Villanova and at 4:30 p.m. against Malibu.
