The Bishop Diego boys basketball team was unable to keep its game against Ventura close, and lost 76-33 at the Oak Park Tournament.
Elias Munoz led the Cardinals with 10 points, while Grant Sexton and Leo Schneider each added nine more.
Bishop Diego faced an extremely tough match-up, as the Cougars are perennial Channel League title contenders. In addition, the Cardinals were without several players who have yet to join the team due to the football team’s run into the playoffs.
“We did a better job than last year,” head coach Dean Prophet said. “As the game went along we sort of adjusted to the speed of that play.”
The Cardinals (0-2) will continue tournament play tomorrow against the host team, Oak Park.
